La Repasseuse
Hello I'm back with a lingerie set this time ! It includes corsets, a corset cover and some drawers. Althought the painting that inspired me this time is older than usual, the cc I ended up making is fit for the 1870s, 1880s, 1890s & 1900s. More pics and download below
This set was mainly inspired by the Edgar Degas's painting : La Repasseuse (The Laundress/Ironer).
————————— Plain Corsets —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
In the 19th and 20th corsets were used to achieve the fashionable shape of the times, provide bust support, maintain good posture and distribute the weight of the skirt's and petticoat's yards of fabric. Althought corsets were underwear judging from the paintings I've seen (cf reference pictures below) working women would sometimes take off their bodices when it was getting too hot (ironers, laundresses as well as peasants during harvest). I've kept these plain corsets pretty simple only featuring the boning channels (where the whale bones or steel bones would go) and a bit of cording under the bust, as I've seen on most corsets of that period.
I've made 2 versions :
is meant to be worn on top of clothing (presumably underwear but you do you) and as such are compatible with my skirts and split drawers
is meant to be worn under clothing (petticoat or skirt)
Tumblr media
32 swatches : 22 solids & 10 floral patterns
2 versions
————————— Lace Corsets —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These are the same corset but with some lace at the top, a very common style but probably more expensive than the plainer ones.
These corsets too exist in 2 versions (V1 to wear over clothing and V2 to wear under).
Tumblr media
32 swatches : 22 solids & 10 floral patterns
2 versions
——————— Embroidered Corsets ———————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These corsets are the same as the lace ones with added embroidery.
This type of embroidery is called flossing it's decorative but also practical : the flossing reduces the corset bones’ movements to improve the comfort of the wearer. These corsets too exist in 2 versions (V1 to wear over clothing and V2 to wear under).
Tumblr media
36 swatches : 24 solids & 10 floral patterns
2 versions
—————————   Corset Cover  —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
As the name implies corset cover were worn on top of corsets. Their purposes were to smooth over the corset lines (the equivalent of today's pantylines), to hide the corset's color (for it to not show under a lighter bodice), to absorb sweat so as to protect the bodice and finally especially in the edwardian era to act as padding to achieve the fashionable pigeon breast look.
That being said it seems not everyone wore corset covers from what I've seen.
Like corsets, corset cover too were sometimes used as workwear by women working in hot environnements (ironers, laundresses as well as peasants during harvest).
This corset cover includes 3 styles (pictured below) with different degrees of "laceyness". I tried my best to make it work for both 1880s and Edwardian fashion, in the end I think it's leaning more toward the later.
Tumblr media
15 swatches : 3 styles (cf picture above) with 5 swatches of white/off white each
—————————   Split Drawers  —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
For most of the 19th century and even the beginning of the 20th century, women drawers were open : they were composed of 2 legs that would be buttoned or tied together at the waist and that would overlap in the crotch but could be split appart when necessary.
I've made 2 versions of these, since I've seen both :
is tighter under the knee giving that poofy "bloomer" like shape
is straight legged
Tumblr media
10 swatches with 5 different white & off white color ways
2 versions
———————————————————————————

———————————————————————————
And once again as a bonus some of my main reference pictures :

The skirt on the toddler conversion can look a bit weird when the knees are bent. It's an unfortunate side effect of the dress being knee-length. In case it really bugs you, I made a V2 which is just above knee-length to minimize clipping.

Meiji Komorebi
A 1885 Japanese inspired Dress
I FINALLY Finished! I started this project back in 2020 a few weeks after TS4 Snowy Escape was released. At the moment it looked like a basic 1880's Bustle Dress, no big deal but once i reached the Weight paint mode it was a NIGHTMARE. You see? this dress have a slight Lobster Tail train and everytime i try to fix it it became harder and clippy. Frustrated and somewhat tired due the pandemic i decided to stash the project on the WIP folder and forget about it until a couple of days ago that resurfaced on my WIP's Folders so i revisited the project. Those damn weights didn't stood a chance and finally finished it.
The Dress is inspired on mid 1880's Japanese wear wore by the high class ladies on the Meiji Period Japan. They used to mix Kimono silks and Western patterns to create unique garments while still following the European fashionable dress.
Tumblr media
Meiji Komorebi 1885 Dress
Base Game Compatible
Custom Icon and CAS Time Period Organized
14 Swatches. All properly tagged

They might be wore by European Ladies as well after all the Japonisme Movement was super IN at that time
The tail might still have a slight clipping but is barely noticeable

Fountain Pen Mini-Set (pencil override plus deco pen and ink pot)
Tumblr media
I needed a pencil override for my decades challenge save, and realized that the most accurate thing that I could find was probably no override at all. Quills went out around the 1850s, and modern pens didn't arrive until around the 1960s, and in between there was nothing that I could find.
A child in the 1890s would have needed something to write with that they could take to school the next day (...assuming they had homework, but we're playing a game where they do, so...), and they wouldn't have used a quill. A pencil, maybe, but not one with an eraser attached, and not anything like a modern pencil. If they used a pen, it would have been a dip pen or a fountain pen.
Tumblr media
This pen could be considered somewhat accurate from any time from the 1850s (as a dip pen) to the 1950s (as a fountain pen; the change from dip pen to fountain pen would have happened around the 1890s)--or use it for more modern times if you want. It will be used anywhere that a sim normally pulls a pencil out if thin air their pocket. It's a bit chunkier than most of the oldest pens look to be, but it needs to fit the animation and the game, I wanted it to cover a range of time periods, and there were some thicker older pens.
Tumblr media
It's dark blue (could pass for black in most lights) with gold details and nib, including the manufacturer's name. It's not fancy as many pens were--it's not completely gold and doesn't have highly patterned designs--so that it can be used by a wider range of households.
Tumblr media
It's also my first mesh made from scratch, and I learned quite a but making it, but if anything's off, let me know.
Tumblr media
Then I decided I wanted the clutter to go with it. So there's also a deco pen (capped) and a bottle of ink in something close to the shape that a bottle of ink from the 1800s to the early 1900s may have been.
Currently they come in one swatch, to match the pen. I may add more at some point if I decide I want them, but for now, it's just a matching set.
***
You can only use one pen override at a time, so if you want to use this one, remove any others--and if you want to use another, remove this one.

1880s Separated Bustle Skirt
Tumblr media
Download (sfs). No mesh required, but if you want the original dress, it’s no.3 of Linzlu’s 1880s bustle dresses (link broken, go here). More info and screenshots under the cut.
I wanted the bustle skirt to pair with the many Victorian shirts I’ve accumulated, so I separated it out. There is currently an issue with the bow’s texture when used with some of GildedGhost’s Victorian Visions shirts, but I will try and work that out in the future. If a more experienced modder is able to help, please do. There are many other shirts that work perfectly :)
Currently the skirt is in the original colours, but in the future I want to recolour it to match some popular existing pieces (Elfdor’s Ballgowns, GildedGhost’s pieces). Credit to @linzlu for the mesh and textures.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Happy Simblreen!!!!!
Tumblr media
English Stone Townhouse, circa 1890-ish!
Finally, I'm sharing one of my builds for the very first time! This house was designed for Finchwick in Henford on Bagley and took inspiration from buildings in Downton Abbey and All Creatures Great and Small (heavy on the All Creatures) as well as many, many images from Google (particularly this one). It is furnished for the late 1880's and early 1890's for an upper/middle class family.
The house has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a study upstairs, and an entryway, parlor, dining room, kitchen, and mudroom downstairs. It is historically accurate in my heart and very very slightly game tested.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have decided to share both a shell and a fully furnished version. I use a lot of custom content and wanted to make it as easy for you to download without violating creators TOU so please read:
Build items - all linked in the sheet below with the exception of one arch, which is included in the CC folder for both downloads
Buy items - all sets are linked in the sheet below
Shell - download includes tray files and a CC folder with two files in it which I didn’t like because they were buried in large CC dumps by the creator (I got confused and gave up)
Furnished - download includes tray files and a CC folder with most of the individual objects used in the build. My policy was to throw in the pieces that were loose in my mods folder and not part of a larger set (or were paywalled ❌❌❌). I decided I’d rather play with fire than painstakingly hunt down every obscure piece of CC I used in this build.
A few items were part of bigger sets that I downloaded merged, but are also available unmerged. I did my best to specify in the CC list which items I used in my build in case you don’t want to download the whole set (but I recommend you do!)
Download Shell or Furnished (SFS)
CC Linked Here
Lmk if anything is funky or not linked properly! I didn't double check anything because that's not my speed (sorry).

Trois femmes aux ombrelles
And we're back at the regular 1880's fashion with this set which inludes bustle skirts in 3 lenghts, 2 skirt overlays, 3 flower accessories, a parasol and an umbrella !
More pics and download below
As referenced in the title, this set was inspired by Marie Bracquemont’s painting : Trois femmes aux ombrelles ou Les Trois grâces / Three Ladies with Parasols or Three Graces, 1880.
Thanks to @javitrulovesims for making the perfect pose for this set !
———————————   Skirts  ———————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Once again, these skirts have a slight bustle shape which would best fit for the natural form era : roughly 1875 - 1883 ; (well actually, the size of the bustle is dependant on the size of the sim’s butt so do with that what you will). They are more ornate than my Cueillette skirts featuring some gathered layers and trims typical of the period, so they would be better suited for higher class people or more dressed up occasions.
And as always I give you 3 versions with each a different lenght to have more teen options and worker friendly options . The short one end mid calf, the medium one is ankle lenght and the long is full lenght.
74 swatches : 22 solids, 10 floral, 6 plaid, 25 striped & 11 polka dot patterns
3 lenghts : S, M & L
————————— Skirt Overlays —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These two overlays will allow to respectively change the gathered layers and the trim swatches in order to channel the trim crazy period that were the 1880's.
Tumblr media
in the middle finger section
74 swatches for the skirt overlay : 22 solids, 10 florals, 6 plaids, 25 stripes & 11 polka dots patterns
22 solid swatches for the trim overlay
———————— Flower Accessories ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
To properly channel Marie Bracquemond's painting I needed a bunch of flower accessories so you will find 3 accessories in this set : a hair flower, a collar flower and a boutonnière. In my opinion these are pretty timeless and can suit a wide array of looks as portrayed in the pictures below.
These are all edits of @the-melancholy-maiden's Hair Flowers Through the Ages Part 2 thanks to her very open TOU.
Tumblr media
none of these are compatible with hats
51 swatches : the-melancholy-maiden's original 29 colors and my 22 colors
the collar flower and the boutonnière are in the necklace section
the hair flower is in the hat section, available for both female and male frames
the hair flower is hat slider compatible
————————   Parasol & Umbrella  ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
I made both an umbrella and a lacey parasol (using Javi's texture). These are rather timeless too I think, they are definetely suited for late victorian and edwardian eras.
These are both edits of @javitrulovesims's Meiji Komorebi Accessory Parasol, thank you Javi !
NOT compatible with necklaces, earrings, piercings or anything using the same UVmap (such as kijiko's lashes unfortunatly)
in the right index finger section
45 swatches : 2 colors for the frame and handle, 22 for the canopy and 1 fully black swatch

Kati - an 1870s winter dress
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You might think July is a terrible time to make another winter dress. You might be right. But it also snowed two months ago so I think it's fair game still. Yay for Nordic weather.
There's not all that much to say about this dress. It's continuing the Catherine diminutive theme. The skirt is just below ankle-length to keep it from dragging in the snow. Could probably go ice skating in it. The bustle shape is a bit less prominent than in my other bustle dresses, because I was going for more of a mid-1870s look. It's definitely still very bustle-y. And very fluffy and warm. And bulky.
Preview screenshots were taken BEFORE I playtested it and did some final weight adjustments, so if you see something weird in the previews, don't worry about it.

WIP
Greene Anne - 1880s-1900 eastlake queen anne house, CC-free
Exterior progress - 2024
This build has also been going on since late 2022! I've been calling it a sort of stick-style-carpenter-gothic-queen-anne. Original inspo pic here. The part that has taken the longest is also the most essential to these styles: Gingerbreading. I knew I wanted it on this build, but actually figuring out which assets to manipulate in which way to make it look real was something I spent months on. Turns out roof spindles and corbels work the best!
When I started I had been binge watching this channel that does tours of these gorgeous period houses with detailed explanations of all the historic features. Since then the channel has deservedly blown up and posts very frequently, and I have a backlog of stuff to binge watch again >:)
I had also recorded most of the beginning of the build and actually started to try to learn to edit for once too. Unfortunately I deleted the footage because I ran out of space and the build was taking too long. Hopefully that wont be an issue now that I'm not on a laptop.

Queen Alexandra Hair
I decided a clear out of of my work-in-progress folder was needed (it's larger than my cc folder!) and found this!
This is the hairstyle that Queen Alexandra (wife of Edward VII) wore from the 1880s onward.
It's also accidently very similar to the usual hairstyle of Aunt Ada from the Gilded Age! I've just finished watching the series and have already started working on some of the hairstyles so you can look forward for those in the near future!

1880s Button-up Shirt (for kids)
Tumblr media
Download (sfs). This is an edit of the @chere-indolente Dans le Serre dress, but the mesh is not required. This was a quick upload, no more info or screenshots, enjoy. Modelled by Jo and Thea.
It was made to go with the child bustle skirt, so it looks weird with other bottoms.
